PAINTING DEPARTMENT VISION / MISSION
Painting Department of Fine Arts Faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University continues its education in Bodrum since September 20, 2004. After the Higher Education Exam (YGS), the undergraduate program accepts students with a special entrance exam and it takes 4 years to graduate.
The curriculum of the Painting Department aims to reinforce the creative and individual expression of the student, to comprehend contemporary interpretation methods in the field of painting and to reveal their own unique expressions. Hence, students of art education will be able to determine their personal path confidently with the technical and practical knowledge that require in order to reach new formations by integrating with experience. Students of the Painting Department are supposed to be completed the compulsory and elective courses successfully in order to graduate with a bachelor's degree.
Aim during this period is to understand the concepts of student's intuition, query, methods, moreover, to develop the analysis methods and to reveal the necessity of contemporary art with their own expressions and studies. Within the 4-year bachelor education period, vision, observation, experience, and the development of perspectives of different disciplines are also considered. Moving from this point, besides applied workshops such as Painting Workshop, Experimental Workshop, Print Painting; our theoretical courses such as Digital Art, Artwork Analysis and Contemporary Art are programmed according to the contemporary interpretation methods that are desired to be reached. It is an important mission to raise individuals who are indispensable in their field, who are self-confident, innovative, significant researchers and creators within the framework of their responsibilities towards society and humanity. The main purpose of the education of our department is to understand the internal dynamics of art, the original and creative approaches as the most important basic values of art, also to acknowledge the other art disciplines, to create their own artistic identity by drawing conclusions from them technically and aesthetically. Our department aims to introduce contemporary art approaches and theories in the field of art, and art education, creating original values, and introducing them on an international level on the basis of faculty members and students. It is important that the students are qualified as hard workers and producers as individuals with a high level of perception by improving their knowledge level.
Painting Department of Fine Arts Faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University is an educational institution at Ortakent Campus that constantly renews and develops itself with its city, location and privileged campuses and classrooms. Department’s classrooms, ateliers, and workshops for practical applications provide a comfortable working environment for students with architectural structures designed specially. Our department provides significant contributions to the region, culture and art field of Bodrum with organizing and participating in events, holding symposiums, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, interviews with invited artists, both in our Faculty and in Bodrum.
Our department has started to admit students to the Master Program since 2017, moreover, by the academic year of 2020, our University has started to accepts students for the Art and Design Proficiency Program under the Institute of Social Sciences.
